The BEST place you can ever go is the Food Dock. Have you ever been there before? It's outside of town and has a really good variety of grains, flours, etc., that are hard to get elsewhere. They also sell their spices really cheap. You can join their food coop too, which doesn't cost anything except $1 for their catalog, but you can order anything off it and some stuff is single serving.
We should come up with a really great whole food menu for a meal and have you guys over. Would be fun!haralvarezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11308220141553658586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8549814503868104065.post-42509591814012377272010-12-07T16:27:52.861-05:002010-12-07T16:27:52.861-05:00Do you buy flaxseed at a regular grocery store, or...Do you buy flaxseed at a regular grocery store, or do you have to go to some place like a bulk food store?Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18046163635024570019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8549814503868104065.post-36543647555940197202010-12-06T21:21:49.169-05:002010-12-06T21:21:49.169-05:00Breakfast is the hardest meal to 'put you effo...Breakfast is the hardest meal to 'put you efforts into' as well. Once you wake up, you just don't have time to create an extravagant meal. A slice of toast and cup of coffee is about it for me...I suppose time is a big issue for lots of people. Perhaps a series of '5 minute meals' would be helpful?

And perhaps using a mascot a puppet to present the powder as 'magical fairy dust' would convince them? Rice milk would be fun to try! I'm trying to convince my daughters to have a small smoothie in the morning to get more fruits into their diet -- and I"m going to try to sneak kale into them. We just stopped at McDonalds on the way home and got Nelia a happy meal, with a hamburger (don't tell anyone!) and Lourdes got a side salad and a small fry. The fries made her sick to her stomach. It's all a good learning experience to make better choices in the future.haralvarezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11308220141553658586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8549814503868104065.post-48351869144772986402010-11-20T17:50:23.581-05:002010-11-20T17:50:23.581-05:00Thanks a lot, Leah. I know what you mean too: cereal for any meal/snack just hits the spot. I think the key is trying various non-dairy products. Depending on where you're willing to go to buy "milk" you can find other alternatives even to almond milk and soy milk, like coconut milk. Kroger in Mansfield has a great selection - they even have a chocolate coconut ice cream that is to die for. Hope you find something you like!haralvarezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11308220141553658586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8549814503868104065.post-25460742106533136822010-11-19T16:54:13.263-05:002010-11-19T16:54:13.263-05:00So true about the body adjusting. If I eat even a small bit of fried food, my stomach feels gross. Well, first of all preparing our own pizza was a lot of fun; especially with all of the variety of toppings. My picky children and husband got into the act as well. The meal was delicious and suprisingly filling; and the whole family enjoyed it with my teenager leaving some on her plate saying she was full (that usually never happens) The dessert was delicious as well very simple yet yummy. I left there not feeling tired or so full I needed a nap; I felt satisfied. It made me realize that eating heatlhy can be fun and delicious. Going forward I am taking baby steps to go that direction in trying to change our eating lifestyle.
